I have to share that when I held my new book, Feel More Alive! 30 Brilliant Ways To Reignite Your Inner Spark, for the first time in my hands, I cried. Not tears of sadness, but sparkling tears of joy as trite as that may sound.
And you can hold it and run your hands over the velvety cover stock and know that you are leaving a legacy that will last for years. Some trace that you were here like all the other word artists that came before you.
I had no idea what to expect when I posted the book’s availability on Facebook. Yes, my publisher and I thought it was beautiful and timely but would others? Kind of like, if I throw a party will people come?
They did show up! People genuinely wanted to buy the book. At one point on Amazon, I was in the top 20,000 books. That might not seem that great but with over 1 million books jockeying for position I was elated by it!
My book is part memoir, part art gallery and part feel better guide and it even made me feel better, like I was surrounded by sparkles! And I was feeling pretty good to begin with.
The news media may endlessly talk about darkness, but that doesn’t mean you have to internalize it. If they want to spread gloom, that it their choice.
I believe we can share information but lift folks up at the same time. It’s all how you look at it. COVID slowed my book release down for a variety of reasons. It was originally going to be released last June. Since this is my first book, I didn’t give a thought to what month would work best for an upbeat book.
Fortunately, it was released in late October and that ended up being a terrific time for buying holiday gifts. Sometimes the Universe has better plans for us than we had for ourselves! Go with the flow and see where the current takes you …

Will be having a free on-line event for book buyers in a month or so. It will be fun! Will let you know when I finalize the date.
I also wanted to announce that there is a Feel More Alive Writing Contest! It is mentioned in the back of the book and also on this web site under Book. Will post even more details and send reminders in the coming months. The deadline isn’t until the end of April so there is still time. I wanted to give enough time for people to find out about the book and purchase it.
In the meantime, we are heading into one of the most sparkly times of the year. Hey, you may be on a zoom call but why not put on something shimmery or wrap holiday gifts in paper that glistens or puts on some glitter face paint? Think of surrounding yourself with sparkles as the antidote to the gloom and doom crowd.
Lead with examples and sparkles! Perhaps, ask yourself at the end of the day, “What made me feel sparkly today?” And try more of that the next day.
No matter what the gloom folks tell us, we have the power, even during COVID, to find the good still happening all around us.
